Freshwater State School is a fully networked school, with both cable and wireless connections. Every classroom is able to connect to the internet using our multimedia computers. The equipment is modern and up-to-date with the latest software. Each classroom is fitted out with an interactive data projector or, data projector and interactive white board. Digital cameras, scanners, robotics kits, mp3 players, web cams and laptop labs are also available for classroom use. Computer hardware is expanding each year.
At present, as part of a school initiative we have the services of an Information Technology teacher who conducts classes with the lower primary students in our computer lab. Upper primary students utilise our computer labs as part of their classroom curriculum / activities with their class teacher.
Students and staff are provided with opportunities to use ICTs for the attainment of curriculum goals in all learning areas. Development of digital literacy is seen as an integral part of the learning process. Students also have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the role of computers in society as they work towards achieving ICT benchmarks.
