Professional Dancer
What have you been up to since graduating from Freshwater State School?
Since
graduating school I have gone on to do many things in life and most of it
revolves around my love for dance. I have always had a passion for dance since
I was a little girl. Every time someone would ask me what I would want to be
when I grew up I always said ‘a professional dancer’.
It took me 15 years of
training in the studio where I had to make lots of sacrifices but with hard
work, commitment and dedication I finally made my dream job a reality.
I dance
with a world renown Hip Hop Company called “The Royal Family” and we perform
sold out shows all around the world. Our studio founder/choreographer Parris
Goebel now choreographs for all the famous artists such as Rihanna, JLo, Justin
Bieber, Sam Smith and so many more.
Although I am a professional dancer I still
hope that one day I get the opportunity back up dance for these famous artists.
What were your favourite subjects at school?
Please share your favourite memory from school with us:
I cherish lots of memories from this school but my favourite memory would be when I was in Year 7 and we got to sign everyone’s senior shirts on the last day. I spent 7 years with my cohort growing up and learning together. There were so many friendships made and I feel as though our cohort was quite close to one another. I am still friends with with many of those that I graduated with to this day.
Are there staff from Freshwater State School that you can say made a difference to you and where you are today?
Mrs Fullwood has always had a special place in my heart. Not only did she make learning a new language so effortless but she would always ask how my dancing was going and if I had any competitions/performances coming up.
Every time I placed or got an award for dancing Mrs Fullwood was always the first person I’d tell at school. She invested so much time into her students and really got to know them and who they are. I’ll always be grateful to have been taught by Mrs Fullwood.
Is there any history you can share with us that might interest current students?
The tuck shop had the best brownies and frozies when I went to Freshie!
Do you have any advice for our current students?
A dream is an investment, and it’s just okay to dream big because one day it WILL become a reality as long as you are willing to make sacrifices and put time and effort into it.
